Mammoth Lakes is a mountain biker paradise with its pristine alpine air, panoramic Sierra views, and an extensive network of trails that challenge and inspire riders of all levels. 1. Mountain View Trail (5.3 miles)

Mountain View Trail is perfect for intermediate riders seeking a flowy descent with stunning vistas. Starting from the Mammoth Mountain Main Lodge area, this singletrack offers incredible views of the Minarets and San Joaquin River Valley while winding through pine forests and rocky outcrops. Expect fast segments with banked turns and scenic rest stops.

2. Paper Route Trail (6.2 miles)

For a versatile loop ideal for warming up or family rides, Paper Route Trail is a go-to. This cross-country trail begins near the Twin Lakes Vista parking area, offering gentle climbs, smooth descents, and shaded pine sections. It connects easily to other trails for extending your ride.

3. Lower Rock Creek Trail (8 miles)

Technically located just south of Mammoth Lakes near Paradise, Lower Rock Creek Trail is a local favorite for its varied terrain and classic Eastern Sierra scenery. This 8-mile trail features three distinct sections – from smooth flowing singletrack to rocky technical descents – making it great for confident intermediate to advanced riders.

4. Beach Cruiser (6 miles)

Beach Cruiser is a favorite for cross-country riders. It offers a smooth, winding climb through tall pines and a fast, fun descent. The dirt is packed and reliable, with wide views of Reds Lake and the San Joaquin Valley. The trail starts near Main Lodge under the gondola. It begins as a short two-way section, then turns into a one-way loop going clockwise. The climb is steady with a few steep parts. It crosses open ski runs and curves around Reds Lake, which is perfect for a quick dip. Riders can also access the downhill from Off the Top or Kamikaze for a direct and flowy ride back to Main Lodge. The descent keeps riders smiling all the way down. Although it’s a one-way trail, people sometimes ride it the other way, so stay alert. Beach Cruiser was once used in NORBA XC races during the Kamikaze Games. Today, it remains one of the best XC trails for its variety, views, and fast finish.

5. Mammoth Rock Trail (2.6 miles)

Mammoth Rock Trail offers one of the best combinations of scenery and rideability. Starting at the Sherwins base area and descending towards Old Mammoth Road, it provides riders with stunning views of Mammoth Rock, the town, and the valley below. The trail is moderately technical with rocky sections and switchbacks, ideal for intermediate riders looking to progress their skills.
